Tech-savvy people are again upbeat as BCS Computer City at IDB Bhaban is hosting a computer fair titled CityIT Fair 2010, a 10-day computer razzmatazz.
The ninth consecutive show started yesterday with great enthusiasm among youths towards new technology. It will end on February 6.
Though it is only the showcasing of hardware, the traders hope the flagship fair will play substantial role in turning the country into Digital Bangladesh by helping people in remote areas get accessories, said trader association president Majibur Rahman Swapan.
The fair is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the computer market with a total of 187 organisations offering special discount on the occasion.
Shoppers hover the fair from the very first day searching new laptop, desktop and notebook PCs, sound systems, digital camera, ipod, pen drive, TV card and other accessories.
Besides, the organisers arrange entertainment programmes on different topics with celebrities, raffle draw on entry tickets everyday, lifetime awards for the contribution on information and communication technology and for the development of the BCS Computer City.
Painting competition for children, gaming contest, blood donation, cultural programme, quiz contest and product launching programme were also among the programmes.
The organisers also arrange a knockout debate contest consisting of eight teams from different universities.

Revenue
Fiscal and Financial Incentives
1.
There will be no discrimination in case of duties and taxes for the same type of industries set up in the public and private sectors.
2.
(a)
Tax holiday facilities will be available for five or seven years depending on location of the industrial enterprise. Tax holiday facilities will be provided in accordance with the existing laws. The period of such tax holiday will be calculated from the month of commencement of commercial production. Tax holiday certificate will be issued by NBR for the total tax holiday period within ninety day of submission of application.
(b)
Industrial under takings not enjoying tax holiday will enjoy accelerated depreciation allowance. Such allowance is available at the rate of hundred percent of the cost of the machinery or plant if the industrial undertaking is set up in the areas falling within the cities of Dhaka, Narayangong, Chittagong and, Khulna and areas within areas of ten mils from the municipal limits of those cities. If the industrial undertaking is set up elsewhere in the country, accelerated depreciation is allowed at the rate of eighty percent in the first year and twenty percent in the second year.

The present structure of confessional duties on imported capital machinery, based on area demarcation. Viz. "Developed" and "Underdeveloped" will remain in force. Value added tax (VAT) is not payable for import of capital machinery’s and spares. In addition to other measures, creation of and Equity Development Fund will be considered for providing assistance to the industrial entrepreneurs in underdeveloped areas.

There will be differential duty structure for imported raw materials, intermediate inputs and finished products in ascending order. Tariff anomalies, if any, will be reviewed in accordance with the existing rules and regulations.
5.
In order to eliminate any unfair competition, rationalization will be undertaken keeping in view the interests of the entrepreneurs as well as consumers. Bangladesh Tariff commission will regularly review such cases and recommend necessary measures.
6.
Industrial enterprises in the private sector outside the Export processing zones (EPZS), and joint venture (Type-B) and Local (Type-C) industries units in the EPZs may, with prior BOI approval, enter into supplier’s credit and other foreign currency loan contracts with lenders abroad. 100% foreign owned (Type-A) industrial units located within the EPZs may freely borrow abroad without any prior approval. Remittance abroad towards repayments of principal and interest on these borrowings may be sent through banks without prior Bangladesh Bank approval.
7.
Special incentives will be provided to encourage non-resident Bangladeshi (NRSs) for investment. In case of their investment in Bangladesh, they will enjoy facilities similar to those given to the foreign investors. In case of initial public offering (IPO) of shares, the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) will reserve ten per cent of the shares for the NRBs. Furthermore; they can maintain foreign currency deposits in the Non-resident Foreign Currency Deposit (NFCD) Account.
8.
Special fiscal incentives may be provided to industries identified as the "Thrust Sectors" as well as to small and cottage industries. Special financial arrangement may, form time to time, be designed by the Government in support of these sectors.
9.
An Entrepreneur will not be required to pay transfer fee and/or capital gain tax in case (s) he wants to use his/her own land to establish a new enterprise (duly registered with the BOI) under his/her ownership or wants to convert his/her existing enterprise into a "limited company" without changing the ownership structure.
10.
Measures will be taken to create industrial fund in the Bangladesh Band, strengthen specialized Banks, establish country fund, expand capital market, create venture capital and rationalize tax holiday system.

The rate of stamp duty will be rationalized for the purpose of mortgaging of immovable property in the banking system

An Information Technology Village making multifaceted facilities shall be established as part of infrastructure development for promotion of export in this sector.
As a fillip to effective software marketing appropriate provisions on protection of intellectual imports shall be incorporated in the existing copyright Act.

IT Enabled Services
This is perhaps the newest segment in the ICT sector of our country. Medical transcription, GIS services, data warehousing and mining are still very new to our economy. Although there are firms who have entered this arena they are still very much in the infancy stage. Interestingly enough all the ingredients required to operate in this industry are already present in the country. It is up to association like BCS to increase this awareness among potential investors as well as existing ICT houses of the considerably potentiality in the ICT enabled sector. Furthermore our country owing to the convenient time difference with US enjoys a convenient time gap, which can be exploited if marketed properly.

Under this category lies all networking related service providers as in Satellite communication providers, ISPs, WAN and LAN providers etc. Bangladesh got a taste of online Internet only recently (1996). However from that time on and also due to some pragmatic Government Decisions the number of internet users has increase substantially over the years. At its present rate it is expected that by the end of this year about a half a million of people will have access to Internet.
Currently Bangladesh primary gateway to the Internet is still through a VSAT. While VSAT installation and regulations were quite exorbitant recently in an effort to increase the growth, VSAT regulation have been considerably minimized. This positive step has triggered an increase in not only the number of ISPs but also WAN and satellite communication service providers. In addition the Government has taken up plans to get the country connected via the submarine cable as soon as possible. With the expected connection to this cable coming into place next year, one can only imagine the growth that will be witnessed in the ISP sectors of our country.
An offshoot under this sector would be the dotcom industry. With the correction of the dotcom value in the NASDAQ exchange, the growth of this industry never really took off. Furthermore current regulations are not conducive for such growth. E-commerce, which is playing a significant role in the global economy, has no role to play in our primarily owing to Government regulations. However recent developments have suggested that Government will revise the laws to promote cyber use. It is expected that with the enactment of these laws the number of Dotcoms would increase considerably. Also e-commerce a new facet, at least for our country’s perspective would be introduced and thereby injecting more dynamism into the economy

Software Industry
This has been a relatively a late entrant in our ICT market. Even today there are only a few firms that provide dedicated software services and even fewer that have adopted any form of quality standards. However like any learning curve, more and more firms are coming into this fray; systematic procedures and practices are being implemented so that quality software houses are being produced.
The basic clientele for the software houses has usually been the corporate houses .i.e. the institutional market. That being so it naturally follows that most of the software are database related.
While few years back, visual basic was the predominant choice for programmers of late there has been a gradual shift to use other tools to provide better service to the customer. Furthermore with the passage of time firms have also realized the importance and benefits of installing an ICT system in a company. The fact that computer penetration is high in the metropolitan cities has helped in the sense that computer literacy among personnel has increased. Hence they are more likely than ever before to adopt a new computer software system.

Hence it is expected that within a decade software will form a predominant part of our economy.
The basic clientele for the software houses has usually been the corporate houses .i.e. the institutional market. That being so it naturally follows that most of the software are database related.
While few years back, visual basic was the predominant choice for programmers of late there has been a gradual shift to use other tools to provide better service to the customer. Furthermore with the passage of time firms have also realized the importance and benefits of installing an ICT system in a company. The fact that computer penetration is high in the metropolitan cities has helped in the sense that computer literacy among personnel has increased. Hence they are more likely than ever before to adopt a new computer software system.

With the implementation of GATT, our competitive advantage in the RMG sector, which is our prime export-earning sector, is likely to erode considerably. A delegation from Bangladesh to attended the World Congress on Information Technology 2008 (WCIT 2008) to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 18 - 22. The WCIT is the biennial event organized by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA).

The MOU contains the issues related to identifying opportunities of business ventures, exchange & sharing views and transferring resources for the development of ICT in both the economies of Bangladesh and Thailand.

The total number of members stands 741 at present. The body is run by a 7-number executive committee elected every two years.

BCS ITExpo 2008
Bangladesh Computer Samity organized 'BCS ITExpo 2008' at ECS Computer City, Multiplan Centre, 69-71 New Elephant Road, Dhaka-1205, which is the most popular computer and IT market place at the heart of the capital city, during 30 March - 05 April 2008. The ITExpo took place in fully covered area of around one lac sft on 8 floors (from 4th to 11th floor) of the Multiplan Centre. BCS ITExpo 2008 is the largest ICT show ever in the history of Bangladesh. Thousands of people came to enjoy the display of latest products and services of more than 300 ICT companies The theme of the show was ‘ICT for Future Excellence’. যৌন অপরাধ হলো মানসিক কারণে সৃষ্ট নানা সমস্যার একটি । এটি মূলত মানসিক আবেগের কারণে সংঘটিত করতে পারে। শিশু থেকে বৃদ্ধ যে কেউ নানা যৌন অপরাধ সংঘটিত করতে পারে। যৌন সংসর্গ স্থাপনের অবৈধ চেষ্টার জন্যও যৌন নানা অপরাধ ঘটে থাকে। সাধারণত নানা আইনের নানা ব্যবস্থা বিভিন্ন যৌন অপরাধের জন্য গৃহীত হয়ে থাকে। ১৯৭৮ সালে আমেরিকার গৃহীত একটি সমীক্ষায় দেখা যায় যে, শতকরা ২ জন বাদী যৌন অপরাধের জন্য অভিযুক্ত হয়ে থাকে।
যৌন অপরাধের প্রকার
ক. পতিতাবৃত্তির জন্য অপরাধ
১৬% পুরুষ অপরাধী ৩৬% নারী অপরাধী।
খ. জোরপুর্বক ধর্ষণ ১৪% পুরুষ
গ. অন্যান্য যৌন অপরাধ ৩৩% পুরুষ ৩% নারী।
যৌন অপরাধ-২
সম্পর্কের মধ্যেও অপরাধ
দেখা যায় যে, দু’জনের মধ্যে সম্পর্ক থাকাকালীন সময়ও যৌন অপরাধ সংঘটিত হয়। যেমন প্রেমিক প্রেমজনিত ধর্ষণ করে থাকে এবং বন্ধু বান্ধবের দ্বারা প্রেমিকা ধর্ষিত হয়।
অপরাধের স্থান
বিভিন্ন যৌন অপরাধ বিভিন্ন স্থানে শতকরা হারে ঘটে থাকে। স্থানগুলো বিভিন্ন হতে পারে। যেমন বাসা, বাড়ির বাইরে, গাড়ির ভেতরে, মঞ্চে, পাবলিক টয়লেটে, স্কুলে, অন্যান্য যে কোনো স্থানে।
পতিতাবৃত্তি
নানা কারণ এর পেছনে থাকতে পারে তবে প্রধান যে কারণটি বিবেচ্য হয় তা হলো অর্থ উপার্জন। পতিতাবৃত্তির বিরুদ্ধে আইন আছে এবং সমাজবাদীদের মতে এটি একটি জঘন্য পেশা । অনেক দেশেই অবশ্য পতিতালয়কে স্বীকৃতি দেয়া হয় তাও আইনের মাধ্যমে । অবশ্য আমাদের মতো ইসলামিক দেশগুলোতে পতিতাবৃত্তি কড়াকড়িবাবে নিষিদ্ধ।
সমকাম ঘটিত অপরাধ
সমকামিতাও এক ধরনের অনৈতিক যৌনকর্ম । অনেকে মনে করেন এটি জঘন্য এবং ঘৃন্যতম যৌন অপরাধ। তবে সমকামিতায় যারা লিপ্ত তারাও এটিকে স্বাধীন এবং তাদের মনের ইচ্ছার প্রতিফলন মনে করে। অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই জনগনের আড্ডাস্থান বা কোনো অনুষ্ঠান থেকে সমকামিদের গ্রেফতার পর্যন্ত করা হয়ে থাকে। অনেক সময় সমকামিতা ধর্ষণের মতো অবস্থার সৃষ্টি করে। যেমন কোনো নাবালক বা ছোট বালক বৃদ্ধ পুরুষের সমকামিতার শিকার হয়। অনেক সময় সমকামিতায় লিপ্ত হয়ে অনেকে ডাক্তারি, চুরি বা ছিনতাইয়ের ঘটনা ঘটাতে পারে।
সমকামী অপরাধ
কালো পুরুষ এবং শ্বেতাঙ্গদের এক সমীক্ষায় সমকামিতার অপরাধের শতকরা হার প্রকাশিত হয়।
১. শ্বেতাঙ্গ পুরুষ ১৫% অপরাধী
২. কালো পুরুষ ১৭% অপরাধী
৩. শ্বেতাঙ্গ নারী ১% অপরাধী
৪. কালো নারী ০% অপরাধী।
ধর্ষণ-১
জোরপূর্বক যৌনমিল কোনো নারীর মতের বিরুদ্ধে হলেই তাকে ধর্ষণ বলা হয়। সাধারণত মামলায় এটিকে চোরপূর্বক ধর্ষণ ইল্লেখ করা হয়। গত বিশ বছর ধরে শুধু আমেরিকাতেই ধর্ষণের মাত্রা বেড়ে গিয়েছে। কোনো সময় দেখা যায় যে, ধর্ষণকারী ধর্ষীতার কোনো না কোনোভাবে পরিচিত। বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে ধর্ষণ দিনের বেলায় ধর্ষীতার বাড়িতেই হয়ে থাকে। অনেক সময় ঝোপের আড়ালে ক্ষেতে বন্ধুর বাড়িতে কিংবা অজানা কোনো স্থানে হতে পারে। তবে বর্তমানে আইন ধর্ষণের ব্যাপারে খুবই কঠিন। ধর্ষণকারী সর্বোচ্চ শাস্তি মৃত্যুদন্ড পর্যন্ত হতে পারে। আমাদের দেশে ধর্ষণের শতকরা হার উদ্বেগজনক। প্রতিদিনই কিছু না কিছু ধর্ষণের ঘটনা আমাদেরকে আশ্চর্য করে দেয়।
ধর্ষণ-২
শতকরা রির্পোট
আমেরিকাতে শ্বেতাঙ্গরা অধিকমাত্রায় ধর্ষণ করে থাকে এবং তারা কালো নারীদের বা অণ্যান্য গোত্রীয়দের ধর্ষণ করে।
যে কারণে রির্পোট হয় না
অনেক সময় পুলিশের কাছে ধর্ষনের প্রকৃত রিপোর্ট দেয়া হয় না । নানা কারণেই এটি হয়ে থাকে।
ক. ব্যক্তিগত ব্যাপার বিধায়
খ. কে জরিত তা না জানা থাকলে
গ. পুনর্বার ধর্ষণের ভয়ে
ঘ. সাক্ষী বা আলামত না থাকার জন্য
ঙ. পুলিশকে ডেকে ঝামেলা না বাড়ানোর জণ্য।
ধর্ষক এবং ধর্ষিতার বয়স
ধর্ষিতাদের শতকরা ২৮ জন ১৮ বছরের নিচে এবং ৩৩ শতাংশ ১৫ থেকে ২৪ বছর বয়সী এবং ধর্ষণকারীদের বয়স ৬৬ শতাংশ ক্ষেত্রে ১৫ থেকে ২৫ বছর এবং মাত্র ২৪ শতাংশের ক্ষেত্রে ২৫ থেকে ৩৪ বছর হয়ে থাকে।
শিশুদের সাথে অপরাধ
বিভিন্ন যৌন অপরাধীদের ওপর পরীক্ষা করে দেখা গেছে সে, শিশুরা যৌন অপরাধের শিকার হয় খুব কম ক্ষেত্রেই । নানা সময়ে নানা বয়সী শিশু ধর্ষণ বা এরকম নানা যৌন অপরাধের শিকার হয়ে থাকে। মনোবিজ্ঞানীরা মত দেন যে শিশুরা একবার যৌন যে কোনো অপরাধে ব্যবহৃত হলে তাদের আত্মবিশ্বাস ভেঙ্গে যায় এবং তারা উন্মাসিক উদাসীন হয়ে যেতে পারে। মনের কারিশমা আর শারীরিক পাশবিকতাকে নির্লিপ্ত করার উপায় হিসেবে শিশুদের সাথে অনেক যৌন সংসর্গ স্থাপন করে এতে করে শিশুর মানসিক বিকাশ রহিত হয়। দেখা যায় যে, শিশু অপরাধের সাথে জড়িত ব্যক্তিরা নানা সময়েই ছাড়া পেয়ে যায়। কেননা চূড়ান্ত কোনো প্রমান শিশুটির পক্ষে থাকে না । আমেরিকাতে শিশুর সাথে যৌন অপরাধের জন্য মৃত্যুদন্ড পর্যন্ত শাস্তির ব্যবস্থা আছে। আমাদের দেশেও ইদানীংকাল নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন আইন ব্যাপকভাবে পরিচালিত হচ্ছে এর ফলে নৈতিক অবক্ষয়ের কিছুটা উন্নতি আশা করা যেতে পারে।
শিশুদের সাথে যৌন অপরাধ ( যাদের বয়স ১৫ এর নিচে)
১. যৌনমিলনের জন্য আহবান করা কোনো ভয় বা জোর না । এর শতকরা হার ৪৬%
২. সমকামী আচরণ ছোট বালকদের সাথে এর শতকরা হার ৩১%
৩. আপন বা সৎ কন্যার সাথে যৌন সম্পর্ক স্থাপন এর শতকরা হার ১৪%
৪. জোর বা ভীতি দেখিয়ে যৌন সম্পর্ক স্থাপন এর শতকরা হার ৬%
আপন কন্যা বা পুত্রের সাথে যৌন সম্পর্ক
ক. বাবা-মেয়ে ৪৪%ক্ষেত্রে এই সম্পক দেখা যায়।
খ. সৎ-বাবা-মেয়ে ৪১% ক্ষেত্রে এই সম্পক দেখা যায়।
গ. দাদ-নাতনী ৫% ক্ষেত্রে এই সম্পক দেখা যায়।
ঘ. মা- ছেলে ৪%ক্ষেত্রে এই সম্পক দেখা যায়।
ঙ. মা- মেয়ে ১%ক্ষেত্রে এই সম্পক দেখা যায়।
অন্যান্য যৌন অপরাধ
অন্যান্য যৌন অপরাধের মধ্যে পাবলিক নুইসেন্স ক্ষুন্ন হয় এমন অপরাধ বিদ্যমান। এসব অপরাধীদের জোরপূর্বক কোনো চাওয়ার থাকে না । কিন্ত তারা যৌন সমর্থক চায়। অধিকাংশ সময়ই এক্সিবিশন যা দেখানোর প্রক্রিয়া হলো সবচেয়ে মুখ্য। সাধারণত টেলিফোনে আড়ি পাতা, কাউকে সঙ্গনরত অবস্থায় দেখা বা কাপড় পাল্টানোর অবস্থায় দেখা যা স্বাভাবিকভাবেই অন্যজনের ব্যক্তিগত ব্যাপারে সমস্যার সৃষ্টি করে । কেননা এই সব অপরাধীরা অন্যদের যৌননিপীড়নের মাধ্যম হিসেবে বিভিন্ন মাধ্যম খুজে নেয়। বিভিন্ন আচার আচরণের মধ্যে যৌন অপরাধ ব্যাপৃত হতে পারে। যেমন ন্যাকরোফিলিয়া বা মৃত মানুষের সাথে যৌনসম্পর্ক, বেন্টিয়ালিটি-জীবজন্তুর সাথে যৌন সম্পর্ক এবং অনেক সময় পিতা বা মাতা তার নিজ পুত্র বা কন্যাদের সাথে যৌন সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে। অনেক সময় আবার পারিবারিক এই যৌন সম্পর্কের ফলাফল হিসেবে পরবর্তী জীবনে ছেলে বা মেয়ের অন্যত্র বিয়ে হয় না ।
যৌন অপরাধ
তিন ধরনের যৌন অপরাধের ওপর সমীক্ষা চালিয়ে দেখা গেছে যে, এদের মধ্যে দেখানো ক্রিয়ার হার সবচেয়ে বেশি।
ক. দেখানো ক্রিয়া ১৩%

প্রদর্শনগত অপরাধ
১. বয়প্রাপ্ত নারীকে যৌন লিঙ্গ প্রদর্শন এর শতকরা হার ৪০%
২. ছোট মেয়েদেরকে যৌন লিঙ্গ প্রদর্শন এর শতকরা হার ২৮%
৩. জনসমক্ষে হস্তমৈথুন এর শতকরা হার ২২%
৪. নগ্নতার প্রচার এর শতকরা হার ৯%

অন্যান্য যৌন অপরাধ

I borrow a new ac adapter and the problem is solved.
I found out from a website that the dell ac adapter has some design
flaws.

Is there any way to modify it other than using shield cable or moving
the power supply id chip to laptop?

So what is the design flaw ?
The one wire network is intended to support networks with a lot
of wire in them. With slew rate control, it is possible to make
decent looking waveforms, without upsetting the FCC. The devices
also have a high ESD rating. The communication rate is 16Kbit/sec
or so, sort of like the rates you might see on an RS-232 cable.
In the laptop adapter case, the network is relatively small,
compared to the device capabilities.

The reliability report for the DS2501, shows some failures in high
voltage testing. The "HBM" entries would stand for "human body
model", which is a particular combination of RC network, charged
to the indicated voltage. So it is meeting "8KV HBM". (An Intel
USB port is 6KV rated, for comparison.) I don't know what the
"IEC 61000-4-2 CONTACT" test above it is all about, so cannot
comment on whether failures of that test can be ignored
as the report seems to be doing. It is almost as if they expect
the device to fail that particular test.

I couldn't get a datasheet for the DS2501 from Maxim, so had
to get one from datasheetarchive. It is a DS2502, but bulk
programmed. The bus voltage, according to this datasheet, is
2.8V to as high as 6.0V. So if the laptop-junction guy is
seeing 16 volts delivered, that is the amount of voltage
used for programming. What the effect would be on the
device, I haven't a clue (because programming is
probably another hard to find datasheet). If I was the laptop-junction
guy, I'd be comparing voltage level on the 1-wire, to
the range allowed by the datasheet. I'd feel happier if
I could get this sheet from Maxim.

The 1-wire family may exist with different bus voltages. Or
it could be, that the higher bus voltage is intended for
larger networks or something. In any case, I'd want to be
absolutely sure first, whether the application (Dell laptop),
is treating that poor chip properly. If the laptop has a problem,
and is abusing the ID chip, then it might kill them one
after another.
As for "moving it inside", that sounds like a good idea. Would
the chip be drawing power from the battery at all times ?
You'd almost need a schematic for the laptop, to get some
idea of how they're probing the thing, and what power source
is supposed to be used. Or what power source could be used
in a retrofit.
Any amount of external protection could be added to the 1-wire.
Like external ESD snubbing networks, a zener to limit bus
voltage, or whatever. It might not be just an unarmored
bus. Lots of fiddly little details...
As for the comment about "2 meter long UNSHIELDED wire",
unshielded wire is fine, with attention to details. The
bus is unterminated, but has slew rate limiting. So you
would not expect active signal radiation. It would be
possible for conducted emissions to travel down the wire,
but you could remove those with a ferrite bead, or a
filter cap etc. The filter cap could even be part
of the slew rate control network. For the 1-wire to work,
it needs a ground reference, and the ground wire traveling
in the cable next to the "antenna", reduces the loop size.
We don't know if the wires are twisted inside the cable
or not. Again, lots of little details.
So right now, I have only one question.
"What is 16.5V doing traveling to a 2.8 to 6V chip?"
