BCS Delegation in World Congress on Information Technology 2008

A delegation from Bangladesh to attended the World Congress on Information Technology 2008 (WCIT 2008) to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 18 - 22. The WCIT is the biennial event organized by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA).

Led by the President of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, the delegation includes the Vice President of Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) & former President of BCS Mr. Abdullah H. Kafi, former President of BCS Mr. Md. Faizullah Khan, BCS Vice President Mr. A. Shafique Uddin Ahmed, Secretary General Mr. Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Joint Secretary General Mr. Kazi Ashraful Alam, Treasurer Mr. Md. Shahid-Ul-Munir, Director Mr. Yousuf Ali Shamim, and BCS Member Mr. Ashrafuddowla.

The members of BCS delegation attended and participated at various sessions during the 5-day event of WCIT 2008 including the WITSA General Assembly and other parallel events of PIKOM Software & Service Showcase (PS3) organized by the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM), ASOCIO Plenary Meeting, Seminars and bilateral & group discussions with the world business leaders and Techno-Experts on ICT. BCS also singed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI) at the ASOCIO Plenary Meeting on May 22. The MOU contains the issues related to identifying opportunities of business ventures, exchange & sharing views and transferring resources for the development of ICT in both the economies of Bangladesh and Thailand.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Bangladesh Computer Samity represents Bangladesh private sector on ICT in both the global and regional forums of WITSA and ASOCIO as their Member for more than a decade. The Samity has been playing vital role in these two prestigious forums upon participating and organizing events worldwide regularly on several occasions. As a part of its continued endeavor, this time too, BCS is focusing Bangladesh ICT taking the opportunity, while the WCIT 2008 is taking place in an emerging Asian economy of Malaysia.
